About Monitoring Jihadism Project
The Monitoring Jihadism Project (MjP) is a wide-ranging research project that closely examines Italian judicial documents related to jihadist terrorism. The project provides information about the nature and dynamics of jihadist activities. To date, MjP has collected over 15,000 pages of documents on the subject.
These documents concern more than 500 people who have been investigated and tried for their involvement in jihadism and related crimes since 1993. These include illegal immigration, human trafficking, document trafficking, financing terrorism, and planning and executing terrorist attacks.
By carefully documenting and analysing these judicial documents, MjP has created a Database, which provides a lot of information for researchers, LEAs, policymakers, and analysts.
There are other sections on the website as well. In the ‘Biographies‘ section, there are hundreds of short biographies of people investigated for jihadism in Italy. In the ‘News‘ section, there is all the open-source information on arrests, convictions and expulsions. Finally, in the ‘Charts‘ section, there are charts with the most relevant quantitative information on over 500 individuals.
Moreover, MjP published the book “Anatomy of jihadism in Italy” which systematically explored the history of jihadism in Italy, utilising extensive judicial documentation. This comprehensive volume is available in both Italian and English, in PDF and paper formats, through Amazon.
